Ochrolechia subpallescens Vers.
Crabseye Lichen

Family: Ochrolechiaceae

Synonyms: None

Ochrolechia subpallescens is a small crustose lichen that grows in neat circles on hardwood trees in the forest. The thallous is white to gray, and the small apothecia are pink. The thallus and the apothecia are red in hypochlorite (C+ red). The spores are elliptical and small. Algal cells are more or less found in a continuous layer below the hymenium.
