Lasthenia gracilis has yellow ray and disc flowers. The leaves are lanceolate to linear
and the herbage is pubescent. Overall, in our area Lasthenia gracilis is probably most likely confused with Heliomeris species. However, the flowerheads on Lasthenia gracilis are borne singly, and Heliomeris lacks a pappus while Lasthenia as a pappus of scales.
