Apodanthera undulata is a lower elevation sprawling plant that grows in the open in hot, rather hostile environments. The leaves are densely hairy and fold up somewhat when water becomes scarce. The flowers are large and yellow, maturing to a spherical gourd with a woody rind. While A. undulata is fairly common at City of Rocks State Park near here, it is uncommon in the Gila area. It can be found on WD Ranch Road off Hwy 90.
